The finished head matters as much as the fibre.
Touch is influenced by the tips that meet the skin, fibre thickness, exposed length, flexibility and how the head is assembled. Two brushes using the same named material may feel quite different. Review the complete sample rather than relying only on a loose-fibre swatch.
Softness and control are different questions.
A flexible head may suit a light sweep, while a more resilient working surface may be useful when building or blending a formula. More densely packed does not automatically mean more comfortable. Define the intended motion and level of control before selecting the head.
Make a fair sample comparison.
Use the intended formula and agree a consistent application motion, pressure and amount. Ask reviewers to describe tip feel, flexibility, control and any discomfort separately. Compare the initial experience and the condition after the agreed cleaning procedure. These are proposed sample-review questions, not published PRETTY test results.
Soft is not a medical claim.
A pleasant feel does not by itself establish that a brush is hypoallergenic or suitable for every person with sensitive skin. Do not use those claims without appropriate product-specific support. Tell us if your brand has particular material exclusions or substantiation requirements.
Write a useful specification.
Keep the approved sample, fibre information, head dimensions and agreed acceptance criteria together. A description such as “soft with controlled flexibility for a light powder finish” is more useful to discuss than “the softest brush”. The final judgement belongs to physical sample review.
